April 24, 2015 – WEST HARTFORD, CT – When “The Newlywed Game” TV game show debuted in 1966, Saul and Fran Reichlin of West Hartford had already been married for 18 years.  The Reichlins recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.  Newlyweds by comparison, Alan and Cookie Beresner of West Haven have been happily married for 57 years.  These are two of the couples who will put their time of togetherness to the test, when Companions for Living presents “The Not So Newlywed Game” on Thursday, May 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Playhouse on Park, 224 Park Road in West Hartford, as a fundraising event for the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter.

Companions for Living, a home care company specializing in companion, personal and specialized memory care services for older adults, is pleased to present its 6th annual “Vino and a Show” benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter.  This year’s event theme, “The Not So Newlywed Game,” is based on “The Newlywed Game,” however, Companions for Living is adding a twist.  Local couples who have been married to each other for at least 50 years will square off on stage at Playhouse on Park to play the game before a live audience.

The Not So Newlywed Game will expose the entertaining moments of married life with a funny dose of honesty, as couples who have reached their golden anniversaries or better are pitted against each other.  Questions from the game show host will determine how well the not-so-newlywed spouses know or do NOT know each other after five-plus decades together.  Along the way, audience members will learn more about the couples’ courtships and quirks – and hopefully no one ends up sleeping on the couch that night!

Event tickets are $25 per person and include pre-show hors d’oeuvres catered by the Pond House Café of Hartford, as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to support the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.  Event tickets can be purchased from the Playhouse on Park box office in person, by calling (860) 523-5900 or online at www.playhouseonpark.org.

“The Not So Newlywed Game theme will build on the success of last year’s event, The Dating Game, Senior Edition,” said Julianne Roth, President of Companions for Living. “We enjoy putting the fun in fundraising to support the fantastic work of our colleagues at the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, as well as to illustrate our company philosophy and the outcome of care we provide for our clients. We call it living younger, longer.”
